This is the first of several diffrent types of areal photography and videography I want to attempt to capture to further illustrate the boundries of human sight.
The below image was taken from the film “Inception” in 2010 which explores the idea of dreams within dreams. This leads to some exceptional use of lanscape alteration. This image below lead me to attempt something similar with my own areal work.

I started with the most basic way to edit my videos by creating three identical layers and cutting the two additional layers and flipping them to either side of the shot creating the effect that the videos are being folded in an estranged landscape out of ordinary videos.
Or by duplicating the layer and flipping it and splicing the two layers together.
This was an experiment taken using old footage from my trip to Venice, this was used as trail footage to see how easily I could replicate the “fold” technique. This is not intended to be used towards my final work as the area doesn’t proper suite the theme of boundaries.
The clip itself was extremely jumpy and un-smooth because I moved the camera gimbal instead of the drone meaning it moves very quickly, this creates a very jarring effect and is worsened by the fold technique. However I would still consider the experiment a success, In future when I capture video with the intent to use it for the bend technique I will reduce the sensitivity of the gimbal and drone to between 15-25% to create smoother shots, enhancing the effect of the video after it has been edited
Now as there is no was to present my video on my map board I decided the best thing to do would be to capture a frame of the video and pin it to my map
After this successful implementation I decided to go to locations around my map and shoot short 5-15 second clips to recreate this effect and a new effect. However there was an issue as all of my clip after this point became half corrupted and after attempting to recover them there was major compression issues and lots of quality has been lost from these videos, despite this I decided to keep it in my work as I still really like the effect the videos create and I’ve been able to select certain frames from these videos to use as images on my map.
Swinley Park
This location wasn’t inherently interesting, it was a dense woods next to a large field, however a flight above the trees and the ‘fold’ effect made for an interesting video and a good final image for the map
Whistley Green
This small flight between the trees made for an amazing tunnel effect like he world was bending around the central point. The original video looked a lot better but unfortunately the video compression and corruption ruined the quality, However I was so happy with the effect I kept the shots.
Sonning
This was a mirrored flip shot over some water, an already reflective surface. So when I got the angle and hight of the drone perfect, it allowed me to create a double mirrored effect.
Wokefield Park
This shot allowed me to move around to follow the path and create an effect that the two paths would move to meet each other.
Wyfold
I edited this clip slightly differently to modify the effect the clip had. I inverted the top part of the video so they were now a perfect mirror image of each other. This I feel completely changes the effect my work has to something far more mysterious
